After finishing my Master's degree in Microbiology and Genetics at the University of Vienna in 2008, I realized that I was more interested in theoretical research and started my BA in Mathematics. In December 2012 I began my PhD under the supervision of Professor Joachim Hermisson, in which I will now be able to combine these different backgrounds. We will generalize and extend the previously developed models for parapatric speciation.
During the first two years of my Mathematics BA I also worked half-time as a research assistant at the Medical University of Vienna, Department of Neurology, with Professor Roland Beisteiner. There I assisted in presurgical mapping of brain functions via fMRI and in the development of the fMRI-methodology.
